The term CLAT stands for Common Law Admission Test. It is an all-India entrance test that is conducted by National Law schools and universities. This exam on rotation is conducted by 22 National Universities that offer undergraduate and post-graduate programs. The 22 universities participate in the order of their year of establishment, and they are as follows:

What are the requirements for filling out a CLAT form?
It is important to have a scanned copy of the below-mentioned documents on your laptop/mobile/tab –
- The first and foremost requirement of filling a CLAT form is to have a working E-mail id and a working mobile number.
- The participant needs to have their class 10th and 12th mark sheet details. If the 12th mark sheet is not available, considering the board exam results are mostly out in the month of May, the candidate needs to compulsorily have their 10th mark sheet.
- The candidate needs to have documents like his Aadhar card, driving license, or PAN card which can be used as address proof.
- The candidate must have his passport-size photograph converted into a JPEG file. The size of the file should not be more than 500 KB.
- The candidate must have his scanned signature in the form of a JPEG file, whose size should not be more than 100 KB.
- The candidate must have a copy of his domicile certificate or his birth certificate in the form of a PDF file, whose size should not be more than 2MB.
- A scanned copy of the Certificate of impairment for specially-abled persons is required in the form of a PDF/ JPG/ JPEG file only (if applicable).
- Certificates in support of the candidate’s claim for NRI/NRI sponsored candidate are required (if applicable).
Details that need to be provided while filling the form
Candidates will be asked to provide the following information when filling out the CLAT application form.
Personal information
The candidates are expected to include or provide their personal information such as the Applicant’s Name, Father’s Name, Mother’s name, sex, and date of birth.
Communication or contact details
In this section, the candidates will be needed to provide information such as their full address, state, district, area, PIN code, mobile number, and alternative mobile/landline number for both their permanent as well as their correspondence addresses. Candidates are also required to provide an active email id.
Academic details
In this section, the candidate is required to fill in the details related to the educational qualifications that he/she has obtained. For the LL.B course details of the 10th and 12th standards are required to be filled and for LL.M details till LL.B is to be filled.
How to register yourself?
Step 1: Registration
- The candidates are required to first visit the official website of the CLAT Consortium.
- The candidates will be directed to the website and then in order to visit the application window will have to click on a message which reads as “CLICK HERE”.
- The login form is on the left side of the application window. To register candidate will have to first create their account and then login.
- The registration form will pop-up and the candidates will be expected to fill the following details
- After filling in all the details, candidates are expected to click on the ‘register button’. Eventually, the site will provide with a one-time password to the candidate on their registered mobile number. The OTP is used in order to activate the account.
- Following this, the account activation window will show the notification as below:

Step 2: Filling up the form
- Once the candidate is done with the login process he will be directed to the application form, after which he can fill his from.
- The candidates are expected to fill in all the required details, including his personal details, communication details, qualifying examination details, details regarding reservation quota along with test centre and college preference.
- Please note that the candidate will be expected to select at least 3 cities as test centre preference from the list.
Step 3: Paying the Fees
Once the candidate is done filling up his application form, he will have to pay the application fees. Steps are as below:
- The candidate will have to click on the green colored button available on the dashboard which reads as ‘Make Payment’.
- After clicking on the button a pop up message will appear.
- The application fee for every category is as below:

- The candidate can pay the fee by either a debit card or a credit card. Net banking service is also available.
- Please note that additional charges worth Rs 50 or more will be included in the fee. After making the payment, the following message will appear on the candidate’s screen.
- It is advised to download the submitted application form once the candidate is done submitting and completing his form.
